OUR MISSION
All over the world in developing countries, children have been exploited to a lifestyle of mercenary combat. These children are forced to fight in combat after being recruited by government groups or non-government resistance groups. Many suffer from severe mental trauma, as sexual assault and physical abuse are also common. This is a severe issue in countries in Africa and the Middle East. We would like international military intervention in all the areas child soldiers are used in. This would help where the conflict is more violent. In 2008, the Child Soldiers Prevention Act (CSPA) was formed and 8 countries signed the act to attempt the stop of recruitment of child soldiers on their land. But 8 countries is not enough. We want to get more signatures on the act as soon as possible to prevent a new generation of child soldiers. Militia leaders who recruit these child soldiers should be punished, and the statue of limitations keeps them from incarceration. If we push to lengthen the statue of limitations on the conviction of child soldiers past ten years, we can help the children find what closure they can muster. Furthermore, we want the US to stop giving military aid to countries whose governments support the use of child soldiers, which sends the world a clear message that the US does not support child soldiers. Our end goal is to lessen the number of child soldiers, and if possible, stop the use of child soldiers altogether. With your help and awareness, we can prevent the use of child soldiers and sentence the people who have mistreated them.
